I have an intimate relationship with nature that I have developed over the years, and that I believe began when I was very young. I actually grew up in a city, and as a little girl, my memories are of hop scotch, and car horns, and alley ways. There was concrete all around and very little access to nature. Unfortunately, the blades of grass that sprouted up through the cracks in the sidewalk were not really substantial enough to acquaint me with nature’s true wonder. So, I really had no idea. Continue reading THE WOODS
I know this sounds like kind of a silly topic. Like, how hard can it be to go grocery shopping? We’ve been doing it for most of our adult lives and should have it figured out by now. But, I actually believe many of us are rather tortured by grocery shopping and don’t even know … Continue reading THE LOST (OR NEWLY FOUND) ART OF GROCERY SHOPPING
Facial care is such a broad topic in my opinion, so I decided that I need to break this down into parts. Keep a look out for additional forthcoming parts. I also want to give a disclaimer about this entire “Beautiful Face” series because people’s faces are all so different, with varying needs and conditions, … Continue reading BEAUTIFUL FACE, PART I: THE NATURALS
Anyone who has been to my apartment knows that my dwelling is very humble in terms of space. I live in a “junior” studio, so this is basically like a studio but even smaller, in an apartment complex in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I love where I live. It suits me perfectly. I have nice … Continue reading ART ON YOUR WALLS, DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING?
I started getting gray hair when I was in my mid-twenties. I was like a female Steve Martin, except I didn’t let my grays grow out naturally. I was always a fan of coloring my hair. And it wasn’t because I wanted to cover up my grays. I actually didn’t know I had any grays … Continue reading DON’T DENY YOUR GRAYS
Let me preface this article by saying that when I refer to a “goddess” in this text, I am using it in the broadest sense to basically describe a super kick-ass woman. I was born in 1979 and therefore grew up absorbing 80’s popular culture–which is, in my opinion, the most superior decade for popular … Continue reading DANA BARRETT: THE ULTIMATE MODERN-DAY GODDESS
I was first introduced to Palo Santo by my good friend Erin Swavely. Erin is a gifted medium and offers her services to those in her community and beyond. If you’re interested in and open to this kind of healing, I recommend you reach out to her, she’s the real deal! Erin and my twin … Continue reading PALO SANTO. EVERYONE NEEDS IT.
Over the years, whenever I hear the F-A-T word uttered in any context, even if it’s coming across as playfully self-deprecating, it sounds harsher to my ears than the even more well-known offensive four-letter-F-word. For many of us, the wounds from this word were inflicted sometime between the ages of birth and 18. And if … Continue reading ELIMINATE “FAT” FROM YOUR VOCABULARY
I’m as concerned about the environment as the next person, give or take. I am extreme about some things and some things I let slide. I’m extreme about grocery bags. If I get in the car to go grocery shopping and I have forgotten my reusable grocery bags, I will turn back to get them. … Continue reading CHANGE THE WORLD BY CHANGING A LIGHT BULB
Recently, I’ve had multiple people remark on the silky-smooth texture of my skin, specifically my arms. I promise you, I put very little effort into making my skin smooth and actually don’t really think much about it. But I do agree, my skin does feel pretty smooth to the touch, so it got me thinking. … Continue reading SMOOTH SKIN FOR THE EVERYDAY GODDESS
