Wow, the topics of body image and judgement are so huge. And I might be a total fool to try to tackle them. But, I think these are important topics for all women. We all want to believe we’re the best versions of ourselves at all times, but how can we possibly be? And I really would like to know, am I the only woman who goes into judgement mode when I look at other women? It’s terrible, I know, but sharing out loud about uncomfortable topics is my way of healing. So, without further ado, let’s let the healing begin! Continue reading BODY IMAGE: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WOMEN LOOK AT OTHER WOMEN?
I’m not saying I’m totally comfortable with talking about masturbation. Even seeing the word feels kinda weird, doesn’t it? Typing it out certainly feels kind of weird. But why? Obviously, it’s a natural thing. And lots of men talk about it in SO many different, fun, and creative ways. So why can’t we? Why are we so embarrassed? In our culture, why is talking about female masturbation so taboo? Continue reading WHY IS TALKING ABOUT FEMALE MASTURBATION SO TABOO?
I recently binged watched The Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow on Netflix and she did an episode on female sexuality. This episode got me thinking about so many things, and why it’s so hard, as women, asking for what we want in the bedroom. I also appreciated how Gwyneth shared that as a young woman, she was mostly concerned with pleasing the guy. And only in her 40s did she start thinking about her own pleasure. I felt so validated by her honesty. And up until that point, I really thought I was the only woman who felt that way. Continue reading ASKING FOR WHAT WE WANT IN THE BEDROOM
Every woman’s body is different, and therefore, every woman’s period is different. I have a twin sister and our periods could not be more different. Granted, she is my fraternal twin, so we are not exactly alike. But even though we are not identical twins, we still share LOTS of genes together. And our periods are like night and day. Her period is in fact so awful, that for most of her life, it threatened her well-being and sanity on a monthly basis. I’m sure many women can relate. She has recently removed certain period-initiating organs, and is just now starting to settle into a never-known peace. I’m so happy for her and can’t wait to see how her new suffering-free life unfolds. However, I still menstruate, and I’m only just now attempting to make peace with my period. Continue reading ATTEMPTING TO MAKE PEACE WITH MY PERIOD
I know I’m super lucky to have a twin sis. And in many ways, it really is as cools as everyone thinks it is. We shared a womb together and were side by side, quite literally, throughout our upbringing. We didn’t always get along, and we don’t have tons and tons of things in common. But we have a shared bond that is not really comparable to any other kind of relationship. And for whatever reason, with all of our differences, we especially bond over one particular topic more than any other. And that topic is pop culture. This week’s podcast episode features me geeking out about pop culture with my twin sister. Continue reading GEEKING OUT ABOUT POP CULTURE WITH MY TWIN SISTER
I never really thought I would devote an entire blog post to flowers, but, here we are. And it’s not because I think talking about flowers is basic and boring and obvious. Although, that might be what you think about flowers, initially. But it’s more because this topic is so powerful and profound for me, I’m quite intimidated to tackle the subject. It honestly took me a really long time to choose my featured image for this article. It had to be just right. And no words or images can really convey the magic of flowers and why I need them in my life. But, in this article, I’m going to try to explain. Continue reading THE MAGIC OF FLOWERS AND WHY I NEED THEM IN MY LIFE
I’m not going to lie. I wouldn’t say that humility is one of my strong traits. However, I do think there is a huge difference between having confidence in yourself, and being obnoxious and conceited. And I don’t believe I ever venture into the obnoxious realm of self-confidence. I like to celebrate when things go well for me, and I think that’s a good thing. To me, it’s much more honest to say, “Yes, I kick ass, thank you!” Rather than saying, “Oh no, please, not me, no thank you.” When really, everyone wants recognition and love. So, without any humility or apologies, I’m happy to share that The Dazzling Blogger Award goes to me! Continue reading THE DAZZLING BLOGGER AWARD GOES TO ME!
I suddenly became inspired to start a podcast several months ago, and I just went with it. These days, everyone and anyone can start their own podcast, and there is so much information now about how to do it. The “starting it part” was easy and super fun! I also began with a solid idea in mind, but as I have been making recordings, the podcast is starting to kind of form into what it wants to be. And it’s still morphing. Again, I’m going with it and leaning into that. This podcast is very ME. So, if you like ME, then you will probably like this podcast. The Goddess Attainable Podcast is now live, and I invite you to listen. Continue reading THE GODDESS ATTAINABLE PODCAST IS NOW LIVE
I recently texted my twin sister a screen shot of a new Miranda Lambert song that came up in my shuffle. I often do this when I want to share a song with her and/or solicit her opinion about a song. We both love female pop singers and pop music in general, and have loved pop since the beginning of our existence. Continue reading MY TOP 11 OVERLOOKED, EMPOWERING FEMALE POP SINGERS
For this article, I polled a range of women, most of whom I have never met, but whom I admire from afar. I am so humbled by the responses I received and feel such gratitude towards all of the women who chose to offer their opinions and wisdom. That being said, in these responses, it is so obvious to me the complexity of this question. Answering it requires an immense amount of thought, delicacy, reflection, and sensitivity. Continue reading WOMEN ANSWER: WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT BEING A WOMAN?
