This is the second post in my “The Story Of My Mother” series. And even though in my first post, I declared my intention to keep this series chronological, I’m already straying here. It’s just too impossible to share about my mother in any linear way. So I’m going to lean into the organic flow, and share some details with you about her zany personality in this post. Continue reading MY ZANY MOTHER VALUED FUN AND NEVER GIVE AF
At the suggestion of my blogging bestie, Moksha of The Happy Panda, I’m going to attempt to begin a series of mother-related posts. My mother was a fascinating character, and I agree that her life story is one worth sharing. I will try to keep this relatively chronological. However, her life was quite chaotic. And my perception of her and her life was and is equally quite splotchy. Also, this is a person’s life. It’s their work of art, and this can never be comprehensively scoped. Especially because my mother is no longer here to fill in the blanks. But, I will do my best. Continue reading I WILL NEVER REALLY KNOW MY MOTHER, BUT I’LL TELL YOU WHAT I DO KNOW
I really don’t want to tackle this post, because it’s not something I love thinking about. However, I do think it’s important to bring this perspective into the light. Since it’s not spoken about very often. At least, I don’t come across it very often. Because the truth is, single women over 40 who do not have children, really have a rough time holding their heads high in society. At least, I do. And it’s a tricky topic because women have all sorts of reasons for being over 40 and childless. Some women are there by choice, and others, not so much. But I think there are a LOT of childless, single women over 40, and I think they hide out like I do, managing their shame and embarrassment behind closed doors. And this blog post is my way of attempting to overcome at least a little bit of those negative feelings. Continue reading CHILDLESS, SINGLE WOMEN OVER 40 GET NO LOVE
This is the fourth post of my “Real and Raw” guest post series. Bridget McCafferty was part of my friend group during college from almost 20 years ago! I hadn’t seen Bridget for so long, until several years ago, we were at a baby shower for another friend in the group. It was so lovely to catch up, and we’ve been social media buddies ever since. However, I don’t really know much about Bridget’s life, and never really did. So, I was profoundly honored and excited when she responded to my real and raw guest post inquiry. Continue reading MONDAY MORNING, IT’S SUNNY AND SILENT IN THE ROOM
This is The Goddess Attainable’s first guest post in GA history, and wow, did I choose the perfect goddess to feature. I was honestly sort of cosmically led to Sarah of lifewithlilred, and our lovely connection is still playing out. I recently guest blogged for her and enjoyed the experience so much (she’s so generous, open, lovely, kind, and alive) that I could only wait a week (I tried to keep my cool) before I reached out to her asking if she would consider writing for my blog. Continue reading WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET A REAL LIFE GODDESS?
My mother passed away on December 20, 2017 (about 4 ½ months ago), and this Sunday, May 13, 2018, will be my first Mother’s Day without her. For this holiday, my sister and I plan to return to Delaware, where she lived the final years of her life, in an effort to continue our healing … Continue reading MOTHER’S DAY SANS MOTHER
